What to Watch This Week: Sunday, February 22nd – Saturday, February 28th

Looking for something new to record or stream? Here’s what we’re recommending you watch this week:

Sunday, February 22nd:

  • Countdown to the Oscars (E!): Coverage of the biggest awards show of the year literally begins 7 hours before the event begins meaning E!’s providing the same level of pre-show coverage of the Oscars as CBS did for Super Bowl XLIX.
  • The Oscars (ABC): Expect lots of song and dance from host Neil Patrick Harris…and for the show to go long. Make sure to pad those recordings with extra time and grab your free TiVo plush doll by playing along with us!

Monday, February 23rd:

  • The Voice (NBC): The 8th season of America’s favorite singing competition begins with another round of rotation-based schoolyard pick ’em.
  • Citizenfour (HBO): Nominated in the Best Documentary category on Sunday night, this is the story of one journalist’s trip to Hong Kong to meet Edward Snowden.

Tuesday, February 24th:

  • Parks and Recreation (NBC): In what’s sure to be an emotional finale, we get our last look at life in Pawnee, Indiana even though we’re just not ready to say goodbye. If you haven’t seen the show, there’s still time to binge watch it all before Tuesday night!
  • TV’s Hottest Commercials Countdown (CW): With this countdown of the sexiest commercials from around the world, you’ve finally got a reason not to fast forward through ads.

Wednesday, February 25th:

  • Survivor/The Amazing Race (CBS): Both of CBS’s reality competition shows are back on the same night. The castaways are divided into three tribes (including one that apparently shuns collars) while some of the race teams are made up of blind dates. We guarantee somebody is going to cry before the night is over.
  • Dinner at Tiffani’s (COOKING): Tiffani Thiessen (sans the Amber) is back to grace our screens and our kitchens with her very own cooking show. While we are so excited, we really hope there’s at least one montage involving trampolines at some point on this show.

Thursday, February 26th:

  • My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding (TLC): At some point the dresses on this show will cross the line and stop being dresses, instead becoming full parade floats or circus tents or nation states all their own. They’re just that big.
  • The Victoria’s Secret Swim Special (CBS): Supermodels walking around in tiny bikinis on television? Of course Adam Levine will be there.

Friday, February 27th:

  • Unlikely Animal Friends: The Chicken and The Chihuahua (NAT GEO): If that title doesn’t make you want to tune in and see a chicken hanging out with a chihuahua, you might want to consult a physician.
  • Sex Box (WE): The controversial British show about a panel of experts sitting outside a giant sound proof box waiting for a couple to have what has got to be some of the most awkward conversation ever makes it’s US debut.

Saturday, February 28th:

  • Shania Still the One Live from Vegas (ABC): Our favorite Canadian cowgirl sings all her hits from Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas while her ex-husband questions the choices he made.
  • The Haunting of Greg Grunberg (LMN): We assume that what Greg Grunberg thinks was an experience with ghosts was actually just some special effects produced by his good friend J.J. Abrams.

Streaming:

  • House of Cards (Netflix, February 27th): Proving that Walter White isn’t always the one who knocks, Frank Underwood returns to play president and hopefully not get too pushy. Get ready for weeks of awkward conversation with your friends while you all try not to unintentionally spoil each other!
