snl 40th

It was a star-studded night filled with classic clips, quips, pokes, jokes, surprises, reprises and some good ol’ fashioned bad taste thrown in for good measure. Poor Jon Lovitz is still alive! From Jim Carrey’s failed audition to Tina Fey’s doppelganger, here are TiVo’s Top Five Six Moments for the SNL 40th Anniversary Special:

  1. 8:15pm – Following the parade of past hosts, the opening clip montage was TiVo’s Top Moment.
  2. 8:37pm – Original auditions came in at #2, with the Top Moment within a Top Moment occurring during the Jim Carrey post-apocalyptic Elvis audition and the Stephen Colbert audition.
  3. 10:01pm – Eddie Murphy’s gracious speech after the hilarious Chris Rock introduction.
  4. 10:30pm – Jerry Seinfeld, taking questions from the audience, calls on Tina (Fey), but it is actually Sarah Palin.
  5. 10:36pm – Alec Baldwin and Tina Fey wish their friend Tracy Morgan well and then show a clip of Tracy.
  6. 11:04pm – Bill Murray introduces clips of the departed cast members and crew, and the highlights within the Top Moment were the clips at the end of John Belushi, Gilda Radner, and the not-departed Jon Lovitz.
