Sometimes the greatest awards show sin is the sin of omission, and this year is no exception. With yesterday’s Emmy® Award nominations*, it was hard not to feel as if some of our favorite shows, actors and actresses got robbed!
Here are some of the shows and stars that we think should have been competing for an Emmy statuette on August 25th:
- The Good Wife: Week after week, we tune in to find out what happens next with Alicia and the rest of the gang, but apparently only Julianna Margulies deserves recognition for it.
- Bates Motel: If someone doesn’t nominate Vera Farmiga’s Norma Bates for an Emmy Award next year, Norman is going to get very, very mad.
- Orphan Black: One of the best sci-fi shows in recent memory (along with its breakout star, Tatiana Maslany) continues to be ignored by Emmy Awards voters. Years from now, when she’s starring in a prison drama that’s apparently a comedy, Tatiana will get the recognition she deserves. This is called the Kate Mulgrew effect.
- Parks and Recreation: Between Ron Swanson’s marriage, Leslie’s pregnancy and the jump in time, this was one of the season’s best comedies ever. Nick Offerman should just whittle his own awards from oak and hand them out to the talented folks working on this gem.
- Sons of Anarchy: There’s no better way to describe Sons of Anarchy‘s Emmy Award nomination fortunes than just saying that they are the Jon Hamm of dramatic series.
- The Walking Dead: While The Walking Dead may have had you jumping off the couch this season, the program apparently didn’t move Emmy Awards voters. Always the zombie bridesmaid, never the zombie bride.
