TiVo Olympic Coverage – Top Moments – February 10, 2014

Heat wave—literally and figuratively! Temperatures in the 60s caused dangerously soft snow on the Sochi  slopes, but that didn’t stop the top athletes skiing their way to the five most-watched moments from NBC’s Monday night coverage of the 22nd Winter Olympics. Top male and female Alpine skiers tore through one of the hardest courses in downhill history. The course heartbreakingly conquered some, while others conquered it in these breathtaking five Top Moments.

Top Moment #1 was a dangerous and scary full speed crash in the Downhill portion of the Women’s Super Combined: Top Team USA Alpine Skiing talent Laurenne Ross tried to take a sharp turn but suffered a crushing defeat by the mountain as she crashed at high speed. Fortunately, Ross was not hurt and was able to ski off the course.

The remaining four Top Moments represent athleticism built by blood, sweat, and tears of victory. Top Moment #2 featured the most decorated women’s Alpine Skier in U.S. Olympic history —Team USA’s Julia Mancuso—crossing the finish line in her Downhill run in the  Women’s Super Combined, and queuing up a Bronze to go with her Gold and Silver Medals from the previous two Winter Games.  Top Moment #3 was secured by Canada’s Mikael Kingsbury as he anxiously locked eyes on the scoreboard as it revealed his Silver Medal status in the Men’s Freestyle Moguls Skiing competition.

The final two Top Moments belong to Men’s Freestyle Moguls winner Alex Bilodeau from Canada, who wowed on the slopes, securing his second consecutive Gold by spinning and twisting his way through the Spring-like air, landing effortlessly back on the moguls and claiming his spot on the podium with a victory hug shared with his big brother, who had been waiting in the stands to celebrate.
