Monday, August 6 was an uneven night of Olympic competition on NBC during primetime. For 41 minutes, between 10:24-11:04 PM, coverage focused on the women’s uneven bars competition and all five of the day’s TiVo Top Moments fell during this timeframe. The remainder of last night’s London Games lineup included a solid cross-section of events: Latvia beat Team USA in men’s beach volleyball and sent the USA home medal less in the even, Great Britain emerged victorious in a gritty men’s cycling competition, and diving and men’s track and field events provided additional excitement. Who was the little boy with Mick Jagger enjoying the track and field events?
But in the final tally it was all about women’s gymnastics and America’s new darling – and Corn Flakes cover girl – Gabby Douglas. The uneven bars offered plenty of drama but no medal for Gabby. Her two performances could not quite measure up to the strong field led by Russia’s Aliya Mustafina. The Russian gymnast outperformed silver medalist Kexin He of China, while Britain’s Elizabeth Tweedle delivered a bronze medal performance in front of her home crowd.
| Rank | Top Moment (NBC ET/PT) | Description |
| 1 | 10:58:25 PM | Team USA’s Gabby Douglas stalls on a handstand during her final uneven bars routine, dashing her hopes for a medal in the event (which would have required a nearly flawless performance). |
| 2 | 10:50:03 PM | Russia’s Aliya Mustafina begins her gold medal performance on the uneven bars; she ultimately scores 16.133 out of a possible 17.000. |
| 3 | 10:30:07 PM | Russia’s Viktoria Komova’s uneven bars performance is marred, seconds before her dismount, as her feet touch the lower bar during her final spin. The judges deduct 1.334 for a final score of 15.666. |
| 4 | 10:39:58 PM | China’s Yao Jinnan performs her uneven bars routine and scores a 15.766. |
| 5 | 11:03:43 PM | Gabby Douglas gives a gracious interview to NBC following her last place finish in the uneven bars competition. |
