TiVo Olympic Coverage – Top Moments – August 2, 2012

Gymnastics ratings leapt off the charts of TiVo’s Top Moments for Day 6 of the London Olympics. The most-watched moment was Gabby Douglas winning the gold medal in the women’s gymnastics all-around final, followed by Douglas’s sparkling floor routine and Aly Raisman’s slip on the balance beam. Aly Raisman was Team USA’s last hope for a high score on balance beam. NBC commentators and American audiences cried out as Raisman flailed and lost her balance along with her claim to a medal.

Another nail biting moment: Gabby Douglas’s unsuccessful challenge to the title of Aliya Mustafina, Russian gymnast and reigning World Champion, on the uneven bars. Douglas came back strong on her floor routine. Her smile glowed brighter as she fed off the roaring excitement in the London arena, clapping along to the song “We No Speak Americano” playing in the backgroud. By the end of her performance, Douglas’s smile lit up the screen as she nailed her final landing, giving her a score of 15.033.

Among the most-watched moments was the final leg of the 200m individual medley in men’s swimming. Ryan Lochte had already swum an event and could not catch up to Michael Phelps. Phelps took home the gold – his 20th medal and 16th gold – and Lochte took the silver.
