Women’s Gymnastics captured the top spots for the most-watched moments on Day 4 of the Olympic Games. McKayla Maroney came to London so she could dominate the vault. Last night, Maroney performed one of the most difficult and dangerous vaults and stuck a perfect landing, which landed her in first place on the TiVo Top Moments. Another highlight for American audiences was watching Russian gymnast, Anastasia Grishina, lose her balance while performing in the team artistic event. Americans gloated over the Russian team being brought to tears. Finally, between Maroney’s vault and Gaby Douglas’ prowess on the uneven bars, it’s no surprise American viewers waited with bated breath to see if the USA Fab Five would make history.
Speaking of making history, congratulations to Michael Phelps for breaking the record for most Olympic career medals. However, Phelps is not the same golden boy record-breaker he was in Beijing, as he lost his lead to Le Clos from South Africa at the finish of the men’s 200 meter butterfly. If the TiVo Top Moments for the London Olympic are real indicators of what Americans were watching last night, we should all celebrate Team USA for bringing home the gold and making history.
