Ryan Seacrest vs. Sacha Baron Cohen on the Oscars Red Carpet Tops The Week’s YouTube Charts

We all knew he was going to do something, didn’t we? At the 2012 Oscars promoting his new film, The Dictator, the always-entertaining (depending on who you ask) Sacha Baron Cohen “accidentally” dumped a canister of “Kim Jong Il’s ashes” on an unsuspecting Ryan Seacrest while walking the red carpet. Seacrest managed to take it in stride, but with 7,738,014 views so far, Baron Cohen has proved yet again that he can get people talking, easily nabbing the top spot on this week’s YouTube charts. But spade a spade – do you think Seacrest secretly wanted to pop him in the face?

This red carpet stunt was the lead-in to what turned out to be a decent performance for the Academy Awards. 39.3 million people tuned in this year, a slight uptick from 2011, but not enough to topple this year’s record-breaking Grammy viewership. What did you think of Baron Cohen’s little stunt? Did it amuse you? Offend you? Enrage you? Or did you not even know about it until now? Tell us in the comments!
