Top moments on TiVo DVRs from Golden Globes: All about the laughs

Did you tune in to the 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards? TiVo wanted to find out what you thought about last night’s show and what you thought were the best moments. So what was most fascinating to our TiVo audience? Drum roll please…comedic moments!

According to TiVo’s anonymous audience research measurement data from last night’s 69th annual Golden Globe Awards – TiVo users were most captivated by comedic moments in the first hour of the show. Here are the top three moments (most watched and re-watched moments*) from last night’s Golden Globes telecast on NBC in which all were lighthearted and laugh worthy.

  1. Host Ricky Gervais introducing Melissa McCarthy and highlighting a memorable moment from “Bridesmaids” before saying to the audience, “That’s still less demeaning then what most of you have done to make it in show business.”
  2. A very brief moment, but definitely rewind worthy, Amy Poehler’s close-up for her nomination as Best Actress in a Television Series – Comedy or Musical, when a sneaky Tina Fey snuck into the shot.
  3. Julianne Moore and Rob Lowe presenting the award for Best Miniseries when the teleprompter failed and Julianne was handed the script.

TiVo also took a look at its data to determine how the winning shows stack up to its subscribers’ viewing habits and TiVo users clearly have good taste in TV!

– Best Television series – Comedy or Musical winner “Modern Family” is also currently the number one show in the TiVo Season Pass report, proving TiVo subscribers know good television.

-“Homeland,” winner of the Best Television Series – Drama category, ranks sixth overall for Pay TV series in theTiVoSeasonPassreport and is the second ranked Showtime series after “Dexter.”
