We don’t want to brag, but we probably could have told you who was going to win the 2012 People’s Choice Awards Wednesday. But that’s only because the winners also happen to be favorites of the TiVo crowd, so (to be fair) we had an edge.
The biggest winner of the night was Katy Perry, not only for her uber-popular music, but for her guest stint as the woefully naïve “Honey” on How I Met Your Mother. The CBS show, which also won its own award for best comedy, as well as a Best Comedic Actor trophy for Neil Patrick Harris, is in the Top 20 of TiVo’s Most Recorded list. And as fans ourselves we can only say that the trifecta is legen….wait for it…
Even higher on TiVo’s most watched list is the number 6th ranked Glee, for which Lea Michele took home some crystal. We suppose there’s a reason Ryan Murphy found a way to bring her back, huh? And while we love ourselves some Rachel Berry, would you have expected one of the other Gleeks to take home that trophy instead of Michele? Maybe Jane Lynch or even Heather Morris? Just curious.
Despite not having any representation in attendance, the other big winner of the night was Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, the final installment of the insanely successful magical franchise. It took home four awards, including best movie, which is unsurprising to us, since it has spent the last few weeks in the Top 20 for TiVo Wish Lists. And really, did you see that movie? As die-hard fans of the books and movies, we approve.
So what did you think? Do you think the people chose wisely, or were you shouting at your screens? And did you love seeing Morgan Freeman get an icon award as much as we did? Tell us in the comments!
…dary. See what we did there?
